SOUTHSIDE CLINIC

The National Health Insurance Pilot Project was introduced on the south side of Belize City in early 2001 to test a new model of health care delivery - providing universal access to high quality healthcare appropriate to the needs of the community.

The project was carried out over a period of six months during which time monitoring and evaluation were ongoing.

Following the success of the pilot project, the Belize Medical Associates (NHI) Southside Clinic remained. The clinic is staffed with a team of competent general practitioners and qualified nurses who provide services shaped around the needs and preferences of individuals, patients, families and the community. It is complemented with support services including referral to laboratory and imaging services and specialists consultation.
