Open 24 Hours Location: The labour and delivery department at Belize Medical Associates is equipped to provide both normal as well as Cesarean section delivery. We offer you maximum comfort with a team of professional and experienced doctors, nurses and midwives. At Belize Medical Associates the ratio of delivery team-to-mother is one-to-one. In order to control labor pain, you may choose to request epidural anesthesia for your comfort. Continuous electronic fetal monitoring is used to detect and trace the fetal heart rate and uterine contractions for high risk patients. During a normal delivery, you are transferred from the labor room to the delivery room. It is equipped with all the modern conveniences of a private room. Our delivery room contains infant-warmers, resuscitation equipment and ventilators. During a Cesarean section delivery, you are transferred to an operating theatre. Some Cesarean sections are planned and scheduled accordingly, while others may be performed as a result of complications that occur during labor. Fathers or other relatives are encouraged to be actively involved in the process of childbirth by helping with relaxation techniques and breathing exercises. An identification bracelet is placed on the baby before the baby leaves the delivery area. Patients have a choice of either a male or female obstetrician. In addition to the presence of an obstetrician and midwife at each birth, Belize Medical Associates also ensures that a pediatrician is present at each birth! |
