Belize Medical Associates is the only private hospital in Belize with a complete 2 bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Our state-of-the-art ICU is designed to care for patients with critical, life-threatening conditions. This ICU opened in 2004. Here, you will receive care from Belize’s only qualified and certified Intensivist who is specialized in treating critically ill patients.

Intensive care patients come in all guises: multiple trauma (car accidents), burns, cardiac arrest, head injuries, semi-comatose or overwhelming sepsis (when the body shuts down). Our state-of-the-art unit comes fully equipped with a ventilator, blood gas analyzer, advanced patient monitoring by trained ICU nurses and specialists, with on-site access to life-saving technologies.

Patients are managed by a team that includes critical care specialists and all other specialists who provide comprehensive care that meets your needs. The ICU at Belize Medical Associates is also equipped with critical care nurses whose job it is to look after their assigned patient and monitor all aspects of their care.
